Weird Spring

So in most of the USA, folks are experiencing warmer than normal weather.  Meanwhile those of us in the Northwest and to some degree California, are being "blessed" with wetter and colder conditions.  Really, today is St Patrick's Day, next week is first day of spring, most of the nation is on daylight savings time.  So why oh why is it snowing here?  And intermittent snow showers are expected for several day next week!!  Granted none is expected to stick but...

Pretty yes but I am so ready to move on.  And yes those are crocuses across the street.

Yep, this in my garden.  Under the snow is soggy wet soil that is too wet and cold (obviously) to plant.  Yet I ever the optimist already have my seeds and seed potatoes and the onion starts will probably arrive next week.  Some of you recall that I was roughly at same place last year -- moaning and groaning.

Yet, on the other hand, this is a great garden -- I harvested the last of the carrots last week, last of parsnips yesterday, you can see the kale and chard is still producing and there is still potatoes and onions in the garage.  So in spite of my moaning and groaning, I am very committed to gardening.

By the way, I took these photos an hour ago and it is still snowing!!  Think I'll go make a cup of cocoa.
